My mic. works perfectly and im 20000000000% sure its not my mic. so I'll start from square one.
back about 6 months ago my sound card stopped accepting microphones... they just didnt work lol, this soundcard was the one that most motherboards come with. So I went out and bought a sound blaster live 24 bit sound card, installed it myself. Fired in the cd and installed the hardware that came with the card. Now, ever since then when I join a program like Vent or Teamspeak then connect to a game, I can't use my mic. ingame... its just total static Ingame(only) but lately i've been getting static on vent and xfire so im lost... is there a way to fix this?
I also have a program on my comp. called Soundmax should I disable this program since Its not really neccesary to run a mic.? don't think it is the problem though.
might I add that I did not remove my old busted sound card, could this be the problem? I couldnt get it off the motherboard and was to scared to pry or pull hard on it.
I would suppose having two sound cards in a computer could be a problem. Try to remove the old one. If the mic does not work still then test it on another computer. (I stepped on my headset-mic and it broke and it only made static noises in CS/vent/etc.. so I threw it out). Make sure you plug it in right. Usually the pink port is for the mic etc... They even have pictures on the sound card... but I know you are smart Freak and it would be a dumb mistake if you connected the mic into the wrong hole, so I guess you didn't do that. Sometimes if the wire on my mic is even twisted it creates a static noise. (yours seem to be twisted around each other). I don't think it has to do with the audio properites on the computer. Seems like a hardware problem to me. Let me know how it goes!
